I put up a new headstone in 2002, I was perplexed for many years trying to determine why this fairly wealthy man had no headstone. A chance visit to Cave Hill Cemetery would reveal the answer. The sons had always planned on moving their fathers gravesite (and his children that had died) to CaveHill and reinterring the remains. It was decided after many years to leave things as they were. Then several family members passed away and in the late 1930's Louisville was hit with a massive flood that killed more than three hundred many froze to death in the winter. It was only fitting and proper to provide Thomas B. Graves with a new headstone. As fate would have it the placement was where he was buried.
